Coextruded Film Technologies (Pty) Ltd, also known as “CFT” in the industry was founded by Bob Boden and his partner in 2000 and is situated in North Riding, Johannesburg.

Bob Boden is an analyst and researcher who has presented papers at a number of conferences during his 40 years in the industry. His Technical Service and Polymer Research spanned a period of 20 years whilst he was with AECI, after which he switched to converting for a further 10 years with Nampak.

Our staff compliment consists of 12 people. The production team utilises state of the art technology in the form of computerised programs and technologically advanced extruders.

The entire plant is computer run, which allows all film production to be tracked back to the batch of raw materials supplied. CFT uses only Maguire equipment and software for gravimetric blending and line yield control. Each extrusion line uses chillers and corona treaters. The entire factory floor space and warehouse consists of 800m2.

CFT has achieved steady growth over the past six and a half years since its’ founding and continues to forge new parameters in the plastic extrusion industry.

CFT has major focus on the fast growing mulch market and paid special attention to the individual needs of farmers and their requirements. CFT mulches are one of the most important ways to maintain healthy crops. CFT speciality mulches are not the standard “black plastic”, but are plastic materials with specially designed properties which are applied to the soil surface for protection or improvement of the area covered. Mulching is originally nature’s idea.

Nature produces large quantities of mulch all the time with fallen leaves, twigs, bark, flower blossoms, fallen fruit and other organic material. They have successfully combined what they have learned from nature with there state of the art technology to deliver a product that combines the best of both worlds and offers the farmer a workable solution for successful produce.
